Additional Information
Jane Hudson was born about 1747 in Yorkshire, Pennsylvania and died about 1799 in Pennsylvania.
She was the daughter of William Hudson and Jane Cloyd. She married James Davidson about 1770 in Pennsylvania. Their recorded children include Sarah Davidson, Jane Davidson, and William Davidson.
According to traditions passed down in the Davidson family, the middle name of George Hudson Davidson was the family name of his grandmother. The supplied notes also cite a Fayette County history item saying that an ancestor of William Davidson was living in Ireland at the time of the Siege of Londonderry.
World Family Tree volume 10, tree 2402 records that James Cloyd, grandfather of Jane Hudson, was a boy of nine and living in Londonderry at that time. The same note says David Cloyd, uncle of Jane Hudson, moved his family to Virginia; his granddaughter Martha Cloyd married Matthew Houston; General Sam Houston, President of Texas, was a member of this same Houston family; members of the Houston family also married into the Robert Davidson family of Virginia; and a member of the same Houston family married into the Davidson family of North Carolina, founders of Davidson College.
